Ontario
On Sunday July 19th 23 riders and five roadies began the 730 km six-day Ontario Bike for Bibles tour. Amidst the scurry of filling water bottles, pumping tires and applying sunscreen prayers for safety were spoken and the group was underway.
Each day churches from a variety of denominations provided meals, snacks and accommodations. We'd like to thank the following churches for their generosity and interest in Bike for Bibles and the 2010 Olympic Scripture project.
Riders ranged in age from 14 to 79. One of the 16 year olds commented, "This ride has been great. I can't wait until next year!"
Paul and Pauline Shaver are nurses who took a week's vacation to help bandage scrapes and bruises along with the other roadies who fixed flat tires, provided water and snacks along with tons of encouragement.
Each evening following our meal we reflected on the days events and on our faith journey led by our ride chaplain, Don Miller. These were very meaningful and the catalyst that knit us together as a team.
This year's tour took us through some of Ontario's most beautiful farmland, breath taking vistas, the shining shores of Lake Huron, and the hilly and challenging highlands of Grey County - all that a cyclist could hope for. Combine all of that with the God given privilege of raising funds to share the Good News and the result is another fantastic Bike for Bibles ride. Can't wait for next year! Come and join the Ontario ride - we'd love to have you along!
